Dr Tom Perera has also been collecting, restoring, and preserving antique scientific, cipher, and telegraph instruments for over 60 years. He founded Enigma Museum in 1987. A former professor of neuroscience specialising in the electrical coding strategies of the brain, he is the author of "Inside Enigma", a book on the inner workings of the Enigma and other cipher machines. He gives frequent lectures and demonstrations of the Enigma and other cipher machines. He also chairs the annual Enigma Forum at the Friedrichshafen Ham Radio conference in Friedrichshafen, Germany.
