I will give a quick look at the room in The National Museum of Computing, using our online virtual tour facility, in which the Bombe rebuild is situated. Then I will examine the process of analyzing a message to work out how to plug up the Bombe, and then plugging up the Bombe using the Lysator simulator will be explained. For this, a typical crib will be used. The methodology to create the "menu" (a wiring diagram) and then how to wire up this "menu" on the back of the Bombe will be shown, followed by setting the rotors on the front of the machine and starting the run. I will then show how to dismiss false-stops using the checking machine. It is not intended to explain how the Bombe does its work as that is well described elsewhere. Then I shall introduce my software package for automating the wiring of the Bombe simulator The functional difference between the Bombe and the Polish Bomba will be explained. And finally I will discuss the 4-rotor (US Navy Bombe) mode.
